Singer/Songwriter from Germany, born on January the 23rd in 1974.

What?

Lyrics, music, stories. Handmade. Acoustic, electric, live, recorded. Guitar, piano, harmonica, vocals.

John Ian's songs are marked by musical minimalism, often the focus is on the lyrics which sometimes tell stories, sometimes can simply be called melancholic poetry and are characterized by a strong imagery. John Ian usually records his songs on multiple tracks playing all instruments by himself and has written original music since he was 16.

Why?

Music is a messenger and we all have to learn to listen* more closely.

• With his song "Love Is" John Ian reached the semi-finals in the UK SONGWRITING CONTEST 2011

2007

• John Ian was a 3rd prize winner in Bettina Werner's international music competition "IN THE NAME OF SALT". In March 2007 he joined the award ceremony in New York City where he also performed his winning song "Salt" live.
